My name is Fred Berry, and I'm The Berry Breast Support. My goal is to support your family through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenting with practical, safe, and up-to-date skills and information.

I was already a doula when I had my first baby in 2010, and my support system was better than average. I had plenty of people ready to clean my house, or hold my baby while I took a shower, but when it came to our real troubles (breastfeeding, how much she cried, or finding a car seat for my two-door hatchback), I was left scrambling to find knowledgeable care providers who could really listen to our problems. I needed someone who could provide educated, personalized recommendations to help us.

Breastfeeding, though natural, isn't always easy. Sometimes parents need a little help as they navigate the intense early days of breastfeeding, or troubleshoot an established nursing relationship through teething or starting daycare.

I provide private breastfeeding consults to help mothers reach their breastfeeding goals. Together we can work on latch and positioning, discuss breastfeeding norms, and help you establish confidence in your nursing relationship.

If your nursing situation requires complex lactation support or medical care that is outside of my scope of practice, I can help you find the health care providers you need, and provide you with emotional support to continue breastfeeding while these needs are addressed by other practitioners.

A consult can take place in your home or mine, and usually takes around one hour. Phone, Skype, or FaceTime consults can be arranged.
Pumping consults are also available.

I will always do my best to support you, at the stage you are at, with kindness and good humor, and without judgment. And all kinds of families are welcome at The Berry Breast Support! Please see website for more info.

Since training as a doula in 2009, I've added courses in lactation education, postpartum doula support,  babywearing education, and child passenger safety to my toolbox for supporting parents. And I am constantly putting my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry to good use by delving into the most current science and research to make sure that you get the best possible information.
